Join other library workers to plant up to 650 seedlings from 19 different species of native plants this spring! METRO purchased these baby trees and shrubs so that we can restore some of the overgrown and inaccessible areas at the Library Field. This will be a fun day where METRO members and their families are invited to work together on improvements at our new, shared space.
For those who joined us on either of the preparation and cleanup days, you’ll already be familiar with our roaring campfire and our delicious backwoods feasts. You will not be disappointed (we hope!). Come meet other interesting people, learn a thing or two, AND take a seedling home with you!
When you sign up, please indicate whether or not you have work gloves and any other tools that you might be able to share that day in the spirit of our commons. Shovels, trowels, pickaxes, and watering cans are particularly helpful for planting seedlings. Aim to wear work-ready clothing like boots, long sleeves, long pants, and clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Because we will be working with tools in the rugged outdoors, participants will be required to fill out our volunteer waiver form.
The Library Field is at 249 Croton Dam Road, in New Castle, NY. More details about parking and access will be made available upon registration.
